Hi there, Thanks for the nice words. I shot nearly all of the record while working at the Jean-Michael Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort in Savusavu. It’s on Vanua Levu Island up in the north. Have a fantastic time in Fiji by the way. October is a excellent time to visit.

We have humpback whales visit here each year. Usually in the Nov. and Dec. months but we have seen them transiting owing to the area at other times. Days gone by, 26 June 2008 a whale shark was spotted at Namena Marine Reserve. This is somewhat extraordinary as it’s the first one I’ve heard about in more than 6 years living here. Tonga is a fantastic place to see humpbacks by the way and we’ve been in the water there and had them come right up to us.

How rare is it to see the humpback in Fiji? Its not that far from Tonga, which is well-known for them.
