$500.00 to $1000.00.
We went for 10 days to an all incl. hotel in Mexico and we didn’t even spend $500.00. It was fantastic! (Make sure to take small bills.
Travel with the same amount of cash you normally would feel comfortable. Rentals for extras usually run a small less than a hundred dollars. If you want to go off resort, that may cost you in taxi rides and what ever you buy outside of your hotel.
Do not take more than necessary and if you have an ATM and credit card bring those. All of the major resorts and the majority of their vendors will accept your credit card. Mexico is ful of ATM machines just as in the US. You may be charged a $.50 handling fee, but I consider this a small payment for eliminating risk of carrying around wads of money.
The other excellent thing about using the ATM’s is that most banks will give you the interbank monetary conversion rate and so you will get the best exchange rate available for the day you take the money out.
Don’t get paranoid – take pleasure in….hundreds of thousands of tourists do the same thing and have a wonderful time.
every trip i took to mexico i always figured to take about 100 dollars for each day and get the money in travellers checks. most hotels will cash them. you probably wont use all that money but play it safe and take it because you will never know what you will need and you can always come back home with it if you dont spend it. remember some days you might spend 20 dollars and some days you might spend more but never cash more than 100 dollars a day of your travellers checks
Atm card or $500-$1000. Carry $20′s, $50′s and $100′s. Using atm card is simpler and not have to agonize about carrying cash. 5 $20 bills just to have some cash.
